Conditionals and the subjunctive
Sorry about all the grammar stuff. I’m trying to learn something :P
Zero conditional (Can’t it be ‘zeroth’? Is that a real word??)
Refers to fact: “If you heat marshmallows in the microwave, they explode and you mum kills you.”
Refers to future plausibility or probability: “If it rains, I will take take the bus.”
Second conditional (subjunctive)
Refers to future situations that are unlikely or impossible: “If I were a rich man, dadadadadadadadadadadadadadada.”
Refers to speculation about past situations that didn’t happen:
”If I had not discovered tumblr, I would have avoided this fucking addiction.”
