Tips on using a waterpik, PLEASE!!!

Help! I just got a cordless waterpik (actually, I got a Panasonic version) a few days ago and I am making SUCH A MESS!!

It says keep it upright, but all the water just runs out of my mouth, down my sleeves, down my clothes, everywhere.

Also, I am so bad at co-ordinating it all. I can’t seem to get the hang of the on/off button AND swivelling the head with my thumb AND aiming the nozzle… So I keep poking it in my gum (OUCH), pulling it out of my mouth while it’s still going (LOL), etc.

HELP!!!
